Hi everyone, I am super excited to share with you – my involvement in Miss Humanity Australia 2014. Through my role in this pageant, I will have the opportunity to speak out about Animal Welfare and raise awareness about deathrow – therefore try to decrease the numbers of cats / dogs that get euthanised per year. I am working hard on a website that will display all the dogs / cats in Australia that are desperate re-home cases, I will also be implementing a reward system for those involved in making a difference. I can’t wait to begin this exciting journey and make the difference I have been working towards for years!
On Saturday the 15th of February, I decided to head down to Pet Barn, Bondi Junction to join in on the fun of ‘Pet Speed Dating’,which is an adoption awareness initiative hosted by the Animal Welfare League NSW.
Several Pet Barn shops around NSW were delighted to provide space in their shops for the Animal Welfare League to host their Pet Speed Dating Event on the Valentines Weekend.
It was an absolute delight seeing all the adorable kittens interacting with the public! The AWL Volunteers were super friendly and informative too, providing all the visitors with detailed information about all the kittens + where they can be adopted from.
Most of the kittens were brought in from the Ingleside shelter, and I fell in love with a ginger kitty (however, judging from the picture below I don’t think she was that into me!)
Overall, it was a super fun idea to involve the public with this unique interactive experience. It would of also brightened the weekend for all those Single Valentine people too! Defiantly have to applaud the Animal Welfare League on their event planning idea and I truly hope some of the kitties / puppies found a home too!
If you are interested in adopting a kitten / puppy please head to the Animal Welfare League NSW Website for more information.
I came across these images that were used for advertising “Pedigree” and thought I would share them with you – so brilliant!
THIS FRIDAY February 14, Valentine’s Day, Animal Welfare League NSW is hosting their first Pet Speed Dating Event
at Sydney’s Customs House Square, Circular Quay, from 7:30am to 1:30pm. www.awlnsw.com.au/pet-dating.html
Ten of the most lovable dogs from our Kemps Creek and Ingleside shelters will be lined up for quick rounds of meet-and-greet with potential new owners, in two sessions from 7.30 to 9.30am and from 11.30am to 1.30pm. In between there’ll be a doggy march to Hyde Park and back. They will also provide info on both cats and dogs available for adoption – including “bonded pairs” they are trying to re-home together.
This colourful event next to our iconic harbour is being generously supported by the City of Sydney. It aims to further our pet adoptions, raise funds for and increase awareness of our work.
AWL merchandise and information will be available on site – and we’re running a great raffle at www.thankq.net.au/merchandise/V208/ProductDetail.aspx?pr=PR000090&ref=5687677856 – with a very tempting first prize of two nights’ accommodation at beautiful Daydream Island Resort and Spa on the Barrier Reef.
Wishing you a very Happy Valentines Day!!
